Making a difference: Sarah donates her hair

Making a difference in the life of a child is of utmost importance to Camosun College student, Sarah, pictured here with Mot, hair designer at Spa Utopia and Salon's Pan Pacific location. Sarah is passionate about helping people and making a difference—especially to the lives of children. She believes in miracles, and that we can create them for ourselves and for others. Sarah's desire to make a difference came into play recently when she decided to donate her long, shiny hair to make one or more wigs for children who have lost their hair as a result of medical treatment.

The haircutting event took place early February at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel, where four REALTORS® with RE/MAX—John Dick - Okatoks, Margaret O’Connor - Okatoks, Christine Chorney - Edmonton and Sharon Black - Kelowna—held an event prior to the RE/MAX of Western Canada Convention, to raise funds for BC Children's Hospital, in association with the Children's Miracle Network.

First, Mot divided Sarah's hair into ponytails to make sure the donated hair was at least the minimum length of 10". Then with a few careful snips, and a lot of supportive cheers, Sarah's donation was complete.

  

Not so for her hairstyle, however! The following day, Sarah was invited to Spa Utopia and Salon, where Mot cut and designed Sarah's hair into a stylish textured shag, which she'll be showing off at her upcoming wedding.

Spa Utopia would like to congratulate all who took part in this worthwhile event, and especially to Sarah, whose generosity of spirit will surely take her very far and bring many positive changes in the lives of others.

Spa Utopia & Salon Stylist, Ziba, has been privately trained by leading hair care company representatives of Davines, Schwarzkopf, Joico, Aveda, ISO, Paul Mitchell, Redken, Framesi and Goldwell. She has worked extensively in Laguna Beach, California, including operating her own company.

Ziba's expertise in colour and colour artistry, combined with her knowledge of specialized techniques, makes her popular with those seeking a little drama or a more natural look—just as nature intended. Creative, artistic and highly skilled in technique, Ziba is sought-after by Spa Utopia & Salon clients, who enjoy her quick wit and sense of humour as well as her ability to design a hairstyle suited to their unique personality and lifestyle.

Parke
Spa Utopia & Salon Stylist, Parke, is an Aveda-educated hair designer with an ongoing commitment to keeping up with all that's new and exciting in hair cutting, advanced colour technique, and make-up artistry.

To that end, he has recently taken part in workshops sponsored by Aveda, Bumble & Bumble, Davines, Kerastase, Rusk, Toni & Guy, Goldwell, Schwarzkopf, and Jane Iredale Mineral Cosmetics.
Salon guests are thrilled with Parke's ability to create the perfect hairstyle, and to make suggestions that only a true expert in style and technique could envision. A perfectionist with a fine eye for detail, Parke's love of his work, combined with innate talent, gives our guests plenty to smile about.

Mot
Spa Utopia & Salon Stylist, Mot, is  passionate about healthy, stylish hair that causes heads to turn. Providing styling for the Celine Dion Concert and David Foster shows in Vancouver, she is a recognized talent with over 18 years experience, six of them with Spa Utopia & Salon. Highly trained in colour, cut, perm and straightening techniques for both men and women, Mot has attended workshops by Redken, Sebastian, American Crew and ISO, and has attended seminars by Tim Hartley, former International Creative Director for Vidal Sassoon.

Sought after for weddings, graduations and other special events, Mot specializes in artistic sculpturing, colouring and highlighting the hair, using her unique sense of  "occasion." Salon guests are thrilled with her professionalism and flair for truly memorable hair design.
